Abstract
Thesis This study was aimed to find out the students’ strategy in reducing anxiety in speaking English. The data was collected from eleven grade semester students of senior high school 3 Tapung in academic year of 2022/2023. This study employed a qualitative methodology and described in brief. The subject of this study was 15 students at the eleven grade semester class XI MIPA 1, SMAN 3 Tapung. The data were collected from observation and interview. The researcher made observation by using field notes. Field notes are used to obtain the accurate data. The finding showed that were strategy to reduce students’ anxiety. Students applied five strategies in reducing anxiety in speaking English namely: preparation strategy, relaxation strategy, positive thinking strategy, peer seeking strategy, and resignation strategy.
