Abstract

Utilization of industrial waste is one of the best alternatives to reduce environmental pollution. Ashes of waste from burning oil palm shells are one of the wastes from oil palm fruit where the utilization of this oil palm shell is still very limited. Usually only used for paving roads and boiler fuel. Here, research will be carried out on the ash from the combustion of oil palm shells with a mixture of polyster resin and graphite carbon as a composite reinforcing material. Specifically, the aim of this research is to be able to make composites from waste materials from combustion of palm oil shells, polyester resin and carbon graphite, so that they become composite materials with more economical value, and to obtain optimum mix variations in making polymer conductive composites from combustion waste oil palm shell and polyster resin as a binder, to obtain the optimum value from the density, electrical conductivity and microstructure tests from a mixture of powder from the combustion of palm oil shells, graphite carbon and polyster resin. In this study, the tests were carried out including finding the optimum value of density test, electrical conductivity test, and microstructure. Where the mixture varies, namely samples (CK 60% - KG 20% - RP 20%), (CK 50% - KG 30% - RP 20%), (CK 40% - KG 20% - RP 20%). From the test results above, the density value is above the standard 0.4 kg / cm³ with a value of (0.65,) (0.52), (0.45) kg / cm³. and the results of the electrical conductivity (12.7), (42.4), (63.9) S.cm-1 are suitable for fuel cell materials.
