Abstract

The subject of local Malay Arabic content is replaced by the local content of the Riau Malay culture because the scope of the subjects of the local Malay Arabic content is narrower than the Malay Arabic culture. Seen from the Malay Arabic book, it focuses more on writing Malay Arabic and tells a little about folktales using Malay Arabic writing while in the subject of Riau Malay culture include language, dance, customs, writing and so on related to Riau Malay so that the learning is broader. This study aims to describe the implementation of ethnopedagogy-based learning in BMR subjects, especially on the characteristics of the Malay community which was carried out at SDN 193 Pekanbaru. This research uses a qualitative approach and the method used in this study is naturalistic inquiry. Analysis of the research data used the Miles & Huberman model, namely reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. In BMR learning, the teacher designs and uses learning media, which starts with the preparation of lesson plans and learning syllabus according to the characteristics of the Malay community. Besides, the learning media that the teacher uses are in accordance with the Malay culture such as using Malay language, Malay customs, and Malay arts used in daily life. BMR learning forms good morals and establish the character of students according to the values prevailing in society.
