Abstract

In the construction of a lecture building at a high school in Pekanbaru, this lecture building has 3 floors. The 3rd floor of the building functions as an Auditorium, while on the 1st – 2nd floors it functions as a lecture building, and this building has a basement which is located under the 1st floor. The foundation used is a triangular group pile foundation. Generally, foundation planning rarely uses triangular pile foundations, usually pile foundation planning uses square and circular piles. The objectives of this study are to determine the carrying capacity of group pile foundations in square, triangular, and circular cross sections, and to determine whether the carrying capacity can withstand the maximum load on the College Building or not. In this study, the methods used in this study are the Tomlinson method (1977), the deRuiter & Beringen method, the Bagemann method, and the group pile efficiency using the suggestion of the Converse-Labarre formula. The crosssectional shapes studied were square, triangle, and circle with a depth of 23 m for each cross-section. From the results of the research conducted, the carrying capacity of the pile group with the largest value was obtained in the DeRuiter & Beringen method with a rectangular cross section of 40 cm with a value of 1781,475 kN. While the value of the smallest group pile bearing capacity is found in the Bagemann method with a circular cross section of 25 cm with a value of 536.42 kN, and the resultant value of the group pile bearing capacity cannot withstand the maximum load, because the maximum load value is greater than the results of the value of the carrying capacity of the pile group.
