Abstract

This research is motivated by several things, namely there are still few studies of ecofeminism in novels found in Indonesia. Discussion of ecofeminism has been carried out, but the novels that have been studied are mostly novels written by women while male writers are still rare. Based on this, the problem described in this study is "How is ecofeminism in Tere Liye's novel The Strong Child?". The aim of the research is "to analyze, interpret, and conclude natural ecofeminism, spiritualist ecofeminism, and socialist ecofeminism in the novel Si Anak Strong by Tere Liye". The theory used to analyze this research is Tong's theory (in Wiyatmi, 2017), this theory includes natural ecofeminism, spiritual ecofeminism, and socialist ecofeminism. The approach used is a qualitative approach, the type of research used is library research. The method used is descriptive method, the technique used is hermeneutic technique. The results of the study show that there are three streams of ecofeminism namely natural ecofeminism, spiritualist ecofeminism and socialist ecofeminism contained in Tere Liye's novel The Strong Child. The flow most often found by the author is the flow of natural ecofeminism because, the closeness of women and nature is often described by authors as processing, caring for, and utilizing natural products. These activities are often carried out and have become a habit for women, especially women who live in villages. The spiritual flow is in second place, because the data found amounted to 27 data. The relationship between women and nature is the author's benchmark for this flow. The inner contact between women and nature is very clear, for example, when they are sad, women tend to like to see the beauty of nature and think that nature has power. The flow that the writer found the least was the socialist ecofeminism flow. Reflecting on the present era, the author sees that the diversity of experiences of women who come face-to-face with nature is very rare. Therefore, the novel entitled Si Anak Strong by Tere Liye is proven to be able to build women's awareness to pay more attention to nature by protecting and increasing women's sensitivity to nature which at this time is difficult for us to see.
