Abstract

One of the issues that cannot be separated from Riau Province is the problem of economic disparity or inequality. To achieve the expected welfare, it is necessary to increase economic growth and reduce economic disparities. In 2020 Riau Province contributed 4.62 percent to the national economy. Riau Province's economic growth has fluctuated, namely slowing down since 2012. The Riau Province's economy only relies on two business fields, namely the Processing Industry and Mining and Quarrying. The highest economic growth in Riau Province occurred in 2012 in the period 2011-2020. The purpose of this study is to analyze the level of economic disparity and typology that occurs between districts/cities in the Riau Province. Approach This research uses a quantitative research approach. This research is presented in the form of descriptive quantitative analysis. This research was conducted in Riau Province which includes all districts in Riau Province, totaling 14 districts. Quantitative analysis technique is used to see the level of regional economic disparity by using the Williamson Index analysis as well as inter-regional economic typology and inter-sectoral economic typology using Klassen Typology analysis. The results of the study indicate that the rate of economic growth that occurred in Riau Province during 2011-2020 fluctuated. And the pattern of development that has occurred since 2011-2020 between districts/cities has changed the pattern of good economic development. And, for the level of inequality that occurred in Riau Province in 2011-2020 is still included in the category of high level inequality.
