Abstract
Abstract Humans basically cannot live alone and need other people for survival, that is because humans are social creatures. Since humans are born, they are given the instinct to live together with other people. Humans need offspring to continue generations of descendants, by way of marriage. in Islam, marriage is one of Allah SWT's commands to perfect religion to make a Muslim stronger in his worship. The definition of marriage according to Law no. 1 of 1974 is a physical and mental bond between a woman and a man as husband and wife with one goal, namely to build a happy and eternal family based on the Supreme Lordship. If the relationship cannot be maintained, then you can choose the way of divorce. Divorce is the breaking or termination of the relationship between husband and wife. The author formulates the main problems including: what are the factors causing the increase in cases of divorce at the Pekanbaru City Religious Court from 2017-2019 and what are the legal consequences arising from the occurrence of a legal divorce The type of research that the author uses is observational research, carried out by direct field surveys to obtain the data needed for research. Meanwhile, when viewed from the nature of the research, it is descriptive analytic because in this study the authors conducted direct research at the place under study in order to obtain a clear picture of the problem under study. From the results of the author's research, there are several factors that are most dominant from 2017 to 2019, the first is the factor of dispute and continuous fighting, the two factors leave one party.
