Abstract

Corrosion is one of the problems that occur in the production process of oil and gas wells, which can reduce the value of metal materials in production equipment such as tubing, flowlines and other pipes. The occurrence of corrosion in tubing can have a large effect on several aspects such as leaking, delays in the production process due to tubing changes, and additional operational costs. Organic inhibitors have been looked at as an alternative in restraining the corrosion rate that occurs in iron. The benefits of using organic inhibitors include being environmentally friendly, cheap, easy to obtain and biodegradable. This research will analyze organic inhibitors to reduce corrosion rate. The organic inhibitor that will be used is gambier leaf extract. This research is expected to prove the effect of gambir leaf extract inhibitor in reducing the corrosion rate that occurs in tubing. . Based on the results of the research carried out, it was found that the thickness of the inhibitor of gambir leaf extract affected the corrosion rate and efficiency where the lowest corrosion rate was found at 72 hours immersion, namely 1.41 (mmpy), the lowest corrosion rate at 144 hours immersion, namely 1.65 (mmpy), the lowest corrosion rate was at 144 hours immersion. the lowest corrosion rate at 216 hours immersion is 2.04 (mmpy), the lowest inhibitor efficiency value at 72 hours immersion is 66.66%, the lowest inhibitor efficiency value at 144 hours immersion is 74.99%, and the lowest inhibitor efficiency value at 216 hours immersion is 71.1% Gambier leaf extract is used because it has a tannin content of 20-50% and catechins 7-33%. Gambier leaf extraction was used by maceration method. Gambier leaf extract inhibitor samples will be identified the percentage of tannin content by means of uv-vis spectrophotometry. The gambir leaf extract filtrate will be added with 3% HCl and Aquadest to test the corrosion rate on tubing using the coating method with variations in thickness of 0.1mm, 0.5mm, and 1mm in the laboratory
