Abstract

In every drilling operation that takes place, well problems are often encountered which often interfere and even harm drilling operations and one of them is the kick problem that occurs in the HE well in field G. Drilling in this well is planned to be drilled to a depth of 5200 ft (MD). However, during the drilling process there was a well kick problem at a depth of 4392 ft which was caused by drilling that penetrated the high pressure formation zone and the presence of gas contained in the formation which was marked by the appearance of gas bubbles in the mud. When circulating the kill mud weight for kick control in the HE field G well, a mud production process of 700 bbl (9.40 ppg) was carried out, to turn off the well, 450 bbl (150% of the hole volume) was pumped and a slow pump rate of 60 spm with pressure 1000 to 1200 psi until the well stops gushing. The results obtained from the comparative study using the driller's method with the wait and weight method , it can be concluded that by using the driller's method , the total pump stroke required to pump mud is 4839 strokes with a pumping time of 127.53 minutes, while using the wait and weight method The total results obtained are 2812 strokes with pumping time of 93.75 minutes.
