Abstract
The National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) of Pekanbaru City is a non-structural government institution that is independent and responsible to the President through the Minister of Religion. This study was conducted at the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) of Pekanbaru city. The problem formulation of this study is how the economic empowerment of mustahiks by the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) of Pekanbaru City through the Pekanbaru Makmur Program and how its impacts on Mustahiks' economy after receiving zakat funds from the Pekanbaru Makmur Program of the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS). Meanwhile, the aim of this study is to investigate the Economic Empowerment of Mustahiks by the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) of Pekanbaru city through the Pekanbaru MakmurProgram and to investigateits impactson Mustahiks’economy after receiving zakat funds from the Pekanbaru Makmur Program of the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) of Pekanbaru city. The type of this study is qualitative research with the data collection techniques consisting of interviews and documentation. Then, the data are collected and analyzed by using qualitative descriptive method, with the steps of data reduction, data display and conclusiondrawing. Based on the results of the interviews about the economic empowerment of Mustahiks by the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) of Pekanbaru City through the Pekanbaru Makmur Program, which have been processed based on the answers of respondents,So, it can be concluded that the economic empowerment ofMustahiks through the Pekanbaru Makmur program by the National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) of Pekanbaru City has been very helpfulfor the mustahiks'economy, both in the form of funds or equipment that the Mustahiks have received to increase the business capital and develop their businesses. With the capital received, the mustahiks' economy is proven toget better.
