Abstract

Marketing Development Strategy of Rubber Processing Materials (BOKAR) in West Rengat District, Indragiri Hulu Regency, Riau province, Guidance Ibu Hj. Sri Ayu Kurniati, SP, M.Si. Rubber in Indonesia is a smallholder plantation that is not a legal entity, this is because the rubber plantations and rubber latex produced are the products of their own plantations without any ties from any party and the resulting rubber processing material can be sold freely to anyone at a price agreed between the two. the parties are farmers and rubber collectors/buyers. This study aims to analyze: (1) the characteristics of farmers and the profile of rubber farming, (2) the marketing system for channel rubber processing materials and institutions, functions, costs, efficiency, (3) marketing development strategies, the research method is the survey method in West Rengat District. Indragiri Hulu Regency from November 2019 to April 2020. Data analysis was descriptive qualitative and quantitative. The results of the study: 1). The average age of farmers is 41 years, while the collectors are 35 years old. The average farmer's experience is 12 years, while the merchant collectors are 6 years old. The average number of dependents of the farmer family is 3 people, while the merchant collecting is 3 people. The average education level of farmers is 8 years, while the traders who collect it are 10 years. The average land area is 2 ha, the workforce in the family (TKDK) is 5.95 HOK, and the use of production factors includes: fertilizers and the use of tools. 2). Rubber marketing consists of 1 channel, namely from: farmers to collectors. Farmers perform all marketing functions except the purchasing function, and the transportation function. For traders, collectors perform all marketing functions. Marketing costs incurred as much as Rp. 224 / kg. The margin is IDR 500 / kg. Marketing efficiency of 2.8. 3) Based on the SWOT matrix, the development of rubber marketing is located in quadrant 1, namely the SO strategy, namely: a. Increasing the amount of rubber latex production by providing fertilizers that are suitable for nutrients, b. Using government assistance for facilities and infrastructure as well as counseling to farmers.
