Abstract

research with the title: "Utilization of Rice Straw Compost and Grand-K Fertilizer in Increasing Growth and Production of Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) in Peat Soil". The purpose of this study was to determine the interaction effect and the main growth and production of shallots given Rice Straw Compost and Grand-K. This research was conducted at the Experimental Garden, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru City. The research period is four months, starting from December 2019 to March 2020. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) factorial consisting of two factors. The first factor is the provision of Rice Straw Compost (K) consisting of 4 levels, namely: 0, 15, 30, and 45 grams / polybag and the second factor is Grand-K Fertilizer (G) which consists of 4 levels, namely: 0, 0.55, 1.15 and 1.70 gram / polybag in order to obtain 16 treatment combinations with 3 replications, then there were 48 experimental units. Each unit consists of 6 plants per plot and all the plants are sampled, so that the total plants are 288 plants. The parameters observed were plant relative growth rate, plant height, harvest age, number of tubers per clump, wet weight per clump, dry weight per hill, and tuber weight loss. Data were analyzed statistically and presented with the Honest Significant Difference Test (BNJ) at the 5% level. The research results can be concluded as follows: The interaction of rice straw compost and Grand-K fertilizer significantly affected: plant height, harvest age, number of tubers per clump, tuber wet weight per clump, tuber dry weight per clump and tuber weight loss. The best treatment was a combination of rice straw compost treatment of 45 grams / polybag (K3) and Grand-K fertilizer 1.15 grams / polybag (G2). The main effect of rice straw compost was significant on all observed parameters. The best treatment is a dose of 45 grams / polybag (K3). The main effect of Grand-K fertilizer dose was significant on all observed parameters. The best treatment is a dose of 1.15 grams / polybag (G2).
