Abstract
A This study aims to analyze: (1) the characteristics of farmers and traders; (2) Cost, income, and efficiency of guava farming; (3) channels, costs, margins, marketing profits, and marketing efficiency. This study used a survey method, which took place in the village of Perawang Barat, Tualang District, Siak Regency, Riau Province. The farmer respondent was taken by census with a population of 31 people, and the sample of traders was selected by purposive sampling (intentionally), namely 10 people. The data used in this study are primary data obtained directly through interviews and secondary data. Data were analyzed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed that: (1) The characteristics of guava farmers were: the average age of the farmers was 44.10 years (productive); average length of education 10.26 years (equivalent to SMA); the average farming experience is 8.00 years (quite long); and the average dependents of the farmer family are 4 people. Meanwhile, traders have an average age of 47.70 years (productive), 8.60 years of education (equivalent to SMP), experience in business of 7.90 years (quite long), number of dependents of 3 families, and average land area farming, namely 0.25 ha; (2) In guava farming, the production costs incurred are Rp. 13,261,545 / grpn / yr, consisting of variable costs of Rp. 13,060,223 (98.48%) and fixed costs of Rp. 201,323 / grpn / yr (1.52%); (b) the gross income is Rp. 33,743,768 / grpn / year, with a production of 4,821 kg and a price of Rp. 7,000 / kg; the net income is Rp. 20,482,223 / grpn / yr; (c) Efficiency or RCR is obtained at 2.54, which means that it is profitable and worth working on. (3) In marketing, it is known that there are 2 marketing institutions, namely collectors and retailers, which form 2 marketing channels. The marketing cost for channel I is Rp. 1,774 / kg and channel II Rp. 1,472 / kg. The marketing margin for channel I is Rp. 10,500 / kg and channel II Rp. 5,000 / kg. The marketing profit on channel I is Rp. 8,726 / kg and channel II Rp. 3,528 / kg. Marketing efficiency shows that channel II (Ep = 9.81%) is more efficient than channel I (Ep = 10.14%).
