Abstract

The increase in petroleum production is always accompanied by an increase in the amount of water produced in a well. Production water must not be distributed directly to the groundpit area, production water must first be separated from parameters that pollute the environment such as the value of total dissolved solid (TDS) and turbidityagar according to the 2010 Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation. Water waste produced by the SP KM 66 prabumulih field has not met the standards of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry Regulation. 2010 because the value of Total Dissolved Solid formation water was 4971 ppm, and turbidity 61 NTU, so it was necessary to do filtration. One way to reduce the TDS value and turbidity of production water is through the filtration method by utilizing activated carbon. Bulawan areca nut which has a high potential of activated carbon when given the activator H3PO4 was used in this study. The activation process of Bulawan areca nut activated carbon begins with dehydration by drying the areca nut under the hot sun for 10 days to reduce the moisture content contained in the Bulawan areca nut, then the carbonation process with a temperature of 400 ℃ and smoothed to sieve 100 mesh before activation with H3PO4 solution. 10% for 24 hours. The filtration process is carried out by using a vertical tube inside which is given a screen for the filter media which then flows the production water. The water from the filtration process was tested for the TDS value and turbidity in the laboratory of the technical service unit (UPT) of Riau Province. Based on the results of the research that was done, the results showed a decrease in the value of Total Dissolved Solid content with an initial value of 4971ppm, to 2.34 ppm with an efficiency value of 99.95%. , and the Turbidity Value with an initial value of 61.00 NTU to 11.70 NTU with an efficiency value of 80.81%.
