Abstract

The speech will run well if each participant speaks use the rules of cooperation in speech. On the other hand, if the rule is not obeyed by the speech participants, then the speech process will experience misunderstanding. Disobedience of the speech participants to the principles of cooperation that is called a violation of the cooperative principle. In the election debate The 2019 Presidential Candidate General, the author found words that violated cooperation principle. This is what makes the writer interested in doing This research is entitled "Violation of the Principle of Cooperation in Debate" The 2019 Presidential Candidate General Election. Problems in research this is how it violates the principle of cooperation in election debate general candidates for president 2019. The purpose of this study is to describe, classifying, analyzing, and interpreting violations of principles cooperation in the 2019 presidential election debate. This type of research namely qualitative research with descriptive methods. Data in this study are all utterances that violate the cooperative principle spoken by moderator and pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates serial number 01 (Joko widodo-Ma'ruf Amin) and the presidential and vice presidential candidates number number 02 (Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno) in the candidate general election debate president 2019. The theory used by the author is Grice's theory in Rahardi (2005), Grice in Wijana (1996). Data collection techniques using document, listen, and record. The results of data analysis that has been carried out in the 2019 presidential election debate, found from the five debates with 30 situations, utterances that violate the maxim of quantity 38 utterances, maxims of quality 16 utterances, maxim of relevance 17 utterances, and maxim of implementation/method 13 speech.
