Abstract

The socialization carried out by the Indonesian Red Cross Blood Transfusion Unit in Pekanbaru City was still ineffective. The Indonesian Red Cross Blood Transfusion Unit in Pekanbaru City, which was supposed to play a major role in promoting the voluntary blood donor program, was felt to have yet to receive a positive response from the majority of the community. This study aims to determine the communication activities of the Indonesian Red Cross Blood Transfusion Unit in Pekanbaru City in promoting the voluntary blood donation program. The results showed that the communication activities of the Indonesian Red Cross Blood Transfusion Unit in Pekanbaru City in promoting the voluntary blood donor program used two activities, namely publication (publicity) face to face. Publication disseminating messages or information through the publication process through x-bannner and billboards, PMI info Bulletin and through collaboration with various media, both print media and electronic media. Face to face, i.e. doing activities by persuading or influencing the community through suggestion techniques to change the mindset of the community and be aware of the importance of donating blood. This strategy is carried out by way of face to face directly to PMI communities that are on campus and schools and other instant agencies.
