Abstract

The quality of livestock meat is an important factor for local meat to meet the increasing demand for beef. Farmers in Indonesia are often faced with a number of problems, one that is quite serious, namely the availability of feed. Therefore, breeders need tools in the process of chopping or chopping grass in order to save time and energy spent. In this final project with the title "Design of the Transmission System and Cut Force on the Animal Feed Grass Chopping Machine". In this study, the problem formulation is how to plan the transmission system and cutting force on the animal feed grass chopper. This study aims to obtain the calculation of the transmission system and cutting force on the animal feed grass chopper. Design is a plan or image that is produced to show the appearance and function of a building, clothing, before it is built or made. Grass is one type of quality animal feed that is preferred by livestock, besides being useful as animal feed it also functions to prevent erosion. This grass chopper serves to chop the grass for breeders, this chopping is intended to make it easier for livestock to eat, in addition to saving grass. In this plan, the calculation for the transmission system can be calculated, namely the design power of 0.735 kW; torque moment 511.35 kg.mm; belt V type A; pulley diameter 75 mm and 100 mm; groove angle 34o; belt speed V 5.94 m / s; the circumference of the V belt 985.09 mm. For the calculation of the shaft, the shaft moment results are 681.8 kg.mm; clearance shear stress 9.25 kg / mm2; shaft diameter 24.6 mm; angular velocity 109.9 rad / s; shaft speed 13.95 m / s. The calculation for the cutting force is that the mass of the chopping knife is 0.9825 kg; blade cutting speed 27.45 m / s; and the cutting force is 2966.66 N.
