Abstract

A fume hood (Fume Hood) is one of the most widely used equipment in chemical and engineering laboratories. This equipment serves to ensure the safety of the user from exposure to dangerous acids, substances or chemical reagents. The fume hood (Fume Hood) is also equipped with an exhaust fan which functions to suck in air or steam that comes from harmful acids when using (Fume Hood) and then it will be discharged into the environment through a chimney or hole above the cupboard, in this study the exhaust fan adds a series into 3 speed variations which improve the performance of the exhaust fan both in speed and motor rotation and efficiency. And this fume hood uses an automatic control system using a Limit Switch as a connector and breaker of the exhaust fan, lights and other components. In using the limit switch, it uses the help of the fume hood door which slides upwards so that when it moves up the door will press the lever from the limit switch so that the limit switch will be connected and turn on components such as exhaust fans and other components. For the overall size of the fume hood, namely P: 80cm, W: 60cm, H: 200cm which consists of 3 parts, the first part is the exhaust fan, the second part is the work space of the fume hood and the third part is the storage cabinet.
