Abstract

Silica and is one of the abundant material in indonesian, this study aims to determine the effect of variations in silica sand content on the microstructure, electrical conductivity and disintgration time of composite pellets. Composite pellet press with type KW05-135 and a capacity of 10.000 kg. Making composite pellets with uniform grain size silica sand, namely 100 mesh of 40% using a mixture of 40% carbon graphite 20% polyethylene glicol 400 and 20%. At the composition of Si 45% : Kg 40% : Peg 20% the value of the electrical conductivity is low while the disintegration time is low. At the composition of Si 45% : Kg 40% : Peg 15% it can be seen that the electrical conductivity value in crease while the disintegration time clecreases while the microstructure shows that parameter value change and reach the optimum value. On the composition Si 50% : Kg 40% : Peg 10% shows the maximum electrical conductivity value.
