Abstract

Webinars are seminars or meetings held virtually using certain internet-based applications. In participating in webinar activities, many types of speech that can be used by webinar participants, one of which is declarative speech. Declarative speech is a speech that contains the intention of telling something to the speech partner. Declarative speech can also be seen from various aspects, one of which is function. In line with this, the speech of the webinar participants can also be studied from the aspect of the principle of politeness. The problems studied in this study are (1) How is the function of declarative speech in the educational webinar activity "The Role of Teachers in Developing Distance Learning in Responding to New Normal # 1" on Youtube? (2) How to use the maxim of politeness principle in declarative function speech in the educational webinar activity "The Role of Teachers in Developing Distance Learning in Responding to New Normal # 1" on Youtube? This study aims to describe, analyze, and interpret declarative politeness in the educational webinar activity "The Role of Teachers in Developing Distance Learning in Respecting the New Normal # 1" on Youtube. The theory used in this study is the theory of Chaer (2010) and Rahardi (2005). The method used in this research is descriptive method. The data collection techniques used in this study were documentation techniques, listening techniques, and note taking techniques. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that 1) From the 180 speech data that the researcher found, there were 5 declarative speech functions, namely the function of declaring information as much as 102 speech data, the function of expressing agreement as much as 3 spoken data, the function of declaring decisions as much as 5 speech data, the function of speech explanation of 5 speech data, and the function of saying congratulations as much as 65 speech data. 2) Of the 180 speech data that the researcher found, there were 6 maxims of politeness principles, namely the maxim of wisdom as much as 33 speech data, the maxim of generosity as much as 1 speech data, the maxim of appreciation as much as 67 speech data, the maxim of simplicity as much as 4 speech data, the maxim of consensus as much as 8 speech data , and maxim of sympathy as much as 67 speech data.
