Abstract

Business Analysis and Development Strategy of Sweet Potato Chips Agroindustry in Tenayan Raya District, Pekanbaru City, Guided by Mrs. Hj. Sri Ayu Kurniati, SP., M. Si The agricultural sector plays a very big role in providing raw materials for the processing industry (agro-industry), such as the sweet potato chips agro-industry in Tenayan Raya District, Pekanbaru City. This study aims to analyze, (1) entrepreneur characteristics and business profile, (2) use of raw materials and supporting materials, processing, production costs, production, income and efficiency, (3) business development strategies. This research was conducted in Tenayan Raya Subdistrict, Pekanbaru City which was conducted for 6 months from April to September 2020. The method used in this study was a survey method and respondents were taken census in the sweet potato chips agro-industry business. The data collected consists of primary data and secondary data. The results showed that the average age of the sweet potato chips agro-industry entrepreneur was in the productive age group, namely 44 years. The average length of education for entrepreneurs is 12 years. The average family dependents of 3 people. The average business experience of entrepreneurs is 6 years. The profile of the sweet potato chips agro-industry consists of a business scale that is included in the household scale, with an average workforce of 2 people with an average source of capital of 6,750,000. The use of raw cassava raw materials for one production process averages 400 kg with the use of supporting materials, including: 40 liters of cooking oil, 3 m3 of firewood, 1.25 grams of salty flavoring, 6.30 grams of sweet flavoring, plastic packaging 0.75 kg, 126 sheets packaging label. The total cost incurred is IDR 1.608.484 / production process. Gross income of IDR 2.515.000/production process and net income of IDR 906.516 / production process. The Return Cost Ratio (RCR) obtained is 1.56, which means the business is feasible to run. Based on the SWOT analysis, the sweet potato chips agro-industry business is in quadrant 1 by utilizing the power to seize opportunities with alternative SO strategies, namely: (1) Development of locations in the form of souvenir outlets, (2) Increasing the number ofproduction and improving service to customers.
