Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of tea dregs and urea fertilizer on the growth and production of mint on PMK soil. The research has been carried out at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Jalan. Kaharuddin Nasution No. 113, Air Cold Village, Bukit Raya District, Pekanbaru City. The study was carried out for 4 months starting from November 2021 to March 2022 using a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors, the first factor was tea dregs consisting of 4 levels, namely 0, 15, 30 and 45 g/plant and the second factor was urea fertilizer consisting of 4 levels, namely 0, 0.9, 1.8 and 2.7 g/plant, each treatment consisted of 3 replications in order to obtain 48 experimental units. In the experimental unit there were 4 plants and 2 plants were used as observation samples taken randomly so that 192 plants were obtained. Parameters observed were: plant height, number of branches, leaf wet weight per plant, leaf dry weight per plant, root volume, and root crown ratio. The research data were analyzed statistically and continued with the 5% BNJ test. The results showed that the interaction of tea dregs and urea fertilizer had a significant effect on the parameters of the number of branches, leaf wet weight per plant, dry leaf weight per plant, root volume and root shoot ratio with the best treatment being 45 g tea dregs/plant and 2.7 g urea fertilizer. /plant. The main effect of tea dregs dose was significant on all parameters observed, where the best treatment was 45 g/plant while the main effect of urea fertilizer was real on all parameters with the best treatment being 2.7 g/plant.
