Abstract

Body image or body image possessed by teenagers has various impacts, one of which is self-confidence. Self-confidence is a personal property that is very important for the growth and development of adolescents. Appearance is considered very important, especially for teenagers, because it is one of the factors forming individual self-confidence. The level of individual self-confidence can be seen by looking at the extent of the responses given by others regarding the physical, social, and moral aspects. This study aims to determine the relationship between body image and self-confidence in adolescent girls. The population in this study were teenagers in Pekanbaru City aged 15-19 years as many as 78,412 people. The large number of populations, the Slovin formula is used to determine the sample so that the number of samples obtained is 398 people. The measuring instrument used is the scale of body image and appearance is considered scale. The data analysis method used multiple regression analysis using the computer-assisted SPSS 21.0 series for windows program. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that there was a very significant positive relationship between body image and adolescent self-confidence.
