Abstract

Dumai City is one of the level II in Riau province that has various advantages that is not owned by other regions, both geographically and demographically. However, the progress of Dumai city is also resulted in the formation of slum area, where the population in this area is very far from prosperous; whereas social welfare in society is the most absolute embodied in any development process. A variety of indicators used to measure the level of social welfare of a community, especially those living in slum areas. To that end, the most important thing to note is regarding the public profile. Because by looking at the community profile will be known socio-economic status and their sociocultural attitudes that can be used as a tool for social welfare. Descriptive analysis of this study is expected to answer the problems faced by the communities relating.
