Abstract

Entrepreneurship course is a unit of study applied in higher education whose purpose is to provide knowledge of entrepreneurship. The implementation of its learning goes through both theory and practice. The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of entrepreneurship course on students’ interests in becoming entrepreneurs in the Department of Islamic Economics (EKIS) of Islamic University of Riau (UIR). The hypothesis of this study is that there is an influence of entrepreneurship course on students’ interests in becoming entrepreneurs in the Department of Islamic Economics (EKIS) of Islamic University of Riau (UIR). The data collection techniques used in this study are questionnaires and documentation. In analyzing the data, the Pearson product moment formula is used to obtain the validity of instrument and to obtain the reliability of instrument, the Alpha Cronbach formula is used. Meanwhile, to determine whether there is an influence or not of the entrepreneurship course on students’ interests in becoming entrepreneurs, the Pearson Product Moment formula is used and then the hypothesis is examined by using the t-test. Based on the results of study from the significant test, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the entrepreneurship course (X) on the interest in entrepreneurship (Y). It means that the hypothesis (Ha) is accepted which is known from the value of t-count (4.509) is greater than t-table (1.993). So, it can be concluded that the variable X (entrepreneurship course) influences the variable Y (interest in entrepreneurship) partially.
