Abstract

The reaserch title is a sociological study contained in the poang dance of the sakai tribe in minas sub-district, siak regency, riau province. The formulation of the reaserch problem is how the sociological review of the poang dance rituals of the sakai tribe in minas sub-district, siak district, Riau province. The reaserch objective is what is the social function of the poang dance and how is the influence of the poang dance on the community of bthing in the wind. This research uses descriptive research using qualitative methods. As for the data collection thecniques used were non-partcipant observation, structured interviews, while the documentation thet the researchers got was the focus of the poang dance, clothing, and properties. The subjects in this study were 4 people consisting of 1 tribal cief, 1 dancer, and 2 people. Poang dance featuring a war dance to defend oneself against visible and invisible enemies. This dance cans also be a martial dance using weapons, either in the form of a keris, spear, arrows or chopsticks, they also use a shield or shield. The result of this study indicate the customs and cultural values in the poang dance in the sakai community. Norms, forms of belief, and meaning that exist and influence the poang dance. This influence is contained in the social values that exist in the poang dance. Poang dance is performade by men in pairs as if in a fighting state using property, the clothes used are made of bark that reflect the situation in the forest.
