Abstract

The title of this research is "Public Perception ofDance Jaipong in the Misuri Community (Mitra Sunda Riau) in Kerinci Kanan District, Siak Regency".dance Jaipong is a Sundanese cash dance that is displayed during large events such as weddings which is still thick with traditional dances danced by Sundanese women, this dance is still very thick with its traditions because it is synonymous with Sundanese dancers who are graceful but still agile. Miftah Toha (in the journal Linayati Lestari & Ramon Zamora, 2017:941983) provides limits on perception seen through vision seen through the five senses, hearing, appreciation, feeling, and smell. This type of research uses qualitative methods. Collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects in this study consisted of 8 people consisting of 1 person as general secretary, 1 treasurer of Srikandi Misuri Paguyuban, 1 Head of Kumbara Utama Village, 1 Customary Leader, 1 religious leader, 1 community member, 1 Bapekam member. , 1 jaipong dancer. The results of the study are thedance jaipong in the Misuri Community (Mitra Sunda Riau) in Kumbara Utama Village, Kerinci Kanan District, Siak Regency,dance Jaipong has an attraction such as the motion that has been created and can attract enthusiasm from the community to participate in every jaipong dance performance with music that can be enjoyed by young and old from every perception that is different from the community and from the perception of the community can better understand the meaning of each perception that is in the jaipong dance because of that jaipong still survives until now and is still displayed at every event such as weddings and other entertainment events.
