Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the most suitable financial distress prediction models to be applied to the Metal and Allied Products Sub Sector companies in Indonesia. This study compares two financial distress prediction models, namely the Zmijewski Model and the Grover Model. Comparisons are made by analyzing each model. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling with a sample of 15 companies. Data analysis techniques using descriptive analysis, and statistical testing with the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test which was processed using SPSS 16. Based on the results of tests conducted there are significant differences between the Zmijewski Model and the Grover Model in predicting financial distress in the Metal and Allied Products Sub Sector in the Stock Exchange Indonesian effect. Zmijewski's model states that on average there were 4 bankrupt companies over 5 years, 26.67% and those that did not bankrupt an average of 11 companies over 5 years, namely 73.33 %%. Whereas the Grover Model states that on average there are 3 bankrupt companies for 5 years, which is 20%, and those that do not bankrupt, on average, 12 companies for 5 years, namely 80%.
