Abstract

Identifying the text of the observation report is not a new term applied to Indonesian language learning for the X grade of SMA / MA class X. The difficulty found in identifying the text of the observation report is identifying the structural and content aspects of the information. In the aspect of structure, students have not been able to place the division of the structure correctly, are not able to distinguish between general statements, part descriptions and descriptions of benefits. In the content aspect, students still have difficulty identifying information on main ideas, main sentences and sentences that contain facts. The learning results obtained are 56-65 categorized sufficient. The problem in this study is how is the ability to identify the text of the observation report for class X SMA Negeri 2 Dumai in the 2019/2020 school year? This study aims to describe, analyze, and interpret the ability to identify the text of the observation result report of class X SMA Negeri 2 Dumai in the 2019/2020 school year. The population of this study were students in class X SMA Negeri 2 Dumai, totaling 392 students. The sample used is sample random sampling. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The theory used is the theory of Kosasih and Endang (2019) and the theory of Darmawati and Artati (2019). The results of the research were the ability to identify the text of the observation report of class X SMA Negeri 2 Dumai in the academic year 2019/2020 in the structural aspects with an average (59.37) and aspects of the information content (69.06). It was concluded that the ability to identify the text of the observation report of class X SMA Negeri 2 Dumai in the 2019/2020 school year was an average of 64.22 which was categorized as sufficient.
