Abstract

Written language is a language that is often used in public places such as boards name, appan instructions, fabric ranges and billboards. Written language in these public places must be written in accordance with Indonesian language rules. This is what makes the writer interested to conduct research on the use of Indonesian on nameplate / billboards in Indragiri Hulu Rengat Regency. The problem in this research is how use of capital letters and writing of absorption elements on name boards / billboards in the Regency Indragiri Hulu Rengat? The purpose of this research is to describe, analyze, and interpret the use of capital letters and the writing of elements absorption in Indragiri Hulu Rengat Regency. The data source of this research is board data the names on the Sultan Rengat street to the Veteran Rengat street totaling 40 data nameplate / billboards. The approach used is an approach qualitative. This type of research is a type of field research while the methods are used, namely the content analysis method. In analyzing the author uses several relevant theory, namely according to Grasindo 2016, Chaer 2011, Depdiknas 2008, Dahlan 2007, Waridah 2014, Badudu 2009. The results of this study can be concluded that the whole the use of Indonesian on signboards / billboards totals 40 data. Use of letters The capital on the nameplate / billboard in Indragiri Hulu Rengat Regency is 43 letter data capital. The use of capital letters written in accordance with Indonesian spelling rules as many as 13 capital letters data. Meanwhile, the written usage is not appropriate Indonesian spelling rules that were improved were 30 capital letters data. The use of absorption elements on signboards / billboards in Indragiri Hulu Rengat Regency totaling 22 data. The use of absorption elements written in accordance with the rules of language spelling Indonesia which has been improved consists of 1 absorption element data. While that usage written not in accordance with the improved spelling rules of Indonesian as many as 21 absorption element data. So, it can be concluded, the use of Indonesian on the board names / billboards in Indragiri Hulu Rengat Regency, especially on Jalan Sultan up to There are still many Jalan Veteran Rengat that do not comply with the general guidelines for language spelling Indonesia.
