Abstract

Emotional intelligence is the ability to motivate oneself, survive frustration, control impulses, not exaggerate pleasures, and keep the burden of stress from disrupting the ability to think, empathize, and pray. However, the ability to develop positive emotional intelligence also become an obstacle. The problem formulation of this study is whether there is an influence of teachers’ personality of Islamic Studies on students’ emotional intelligence. The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of teachers’ personality of Islamic Studies on students’ emotional intelligence in class XI at SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Mandau. The type of this study is quantitative research. The data collection techniques used are questionnaires and documentation. The population of this study is all students in class XI as many as 104 and the sample taken is 83 students. Based on the results of data processing performed by SPSS Version 22, it is found that the correlation coefficient (R) is 0.658 or 65.8%, which lies in the range 0.60 - 0.799. It means that the relationship between the teachers’ personality and the students’ emotional intelligence is strong. Meanwhile, the magnitude of the influence of teachers’ personality on students’ emotional inteligence is seen from the value of R (Square), which is 0.433 or 43.3%.
