Abstract

This study aims to analyze student errors determiners used in the presentation. Determiner is one aspect of grammatical which is the most important aspect in order a sentence. The purpose of this study was to determine the error in using the determiner when the student was in a presentation. The mistakes made by students were divided based on surface structure taxonomies, namely omission, addition, misoredering and misinformation. In this research, the researcher used descriptive method. The participants involved in this research were 101 student of the third semester and the sample used was 20 students from class b by random sampling. In collecting data, the researcher used instrument is documentation which the researcher took a video presentation of each student. Researchers using a simple method to analyze the data, namely collecting the sample of language learners, identifying the errors, classification errors, explaining the errors, evaluating the errors.. Researchers have classified student errors and found errors in the use of determiners, namely in the use of articles, demonstratives, quantifiers, general ordinal, possessive and cardinal number. Most errors in using a determiner are in the use of article, namely article definite and indefinite. The researches have obtained a total of 49 errors frequency results, while in omission consist of 16 errors or 33%, in addition of 13 errors or 27%, in misordering of 12 errors or 24% and misinformation of 8 errors or 16%. And there is one student who has no errors in the used of the determiner
