Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of interaction and main the use of planting media composition and cow dung trichocompost against onion growth and yield. This research has been carried out in Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau Islamic University, Pekanbaru. The research was carried out for 4 months from April to July 2021. The research design used a factorial completely randomized design (CRD). consisting of two factors. The first factor is the composition of the growing media, consisting of of four levels, namely, without PMK, PMK with cocopeat (1:2), PMK with husk charcoal (1:1), PMK with cocopeat and husk charcoal (1:1:1). Second factor is trichocompost cow dung, consisting of four levels, namely 0, 20, 40 and 60 g/plant. The research data were analyzed statistically and continued with BNJ test at 5% level. Parameters observed were: plant height, rate of relative growth, harvest age, number of tubers per clump, wet weight, weight dryness, tuber weight loss and onion grade. The results of the study show that the interaction effect of several planting media and cow dung trichocompost significant effect on all observation parameters. The best treatment is the composition of the planting media for PMK, cocopeat and husk charcoal with a comparison (1:1:1) and trichocompost 60 g/plant. The main influence of some growing media give a significant effect on all observation parameters with the best treatment for the composition of the growing media for PMK, cocopeat and husk charcoal with a ratio (1:1:1). The main effect of trichocompost cow dung give a significant effect on all observation parameters with the best treatment of trichocompost 60 g/plant.
