Abstract

ABSTRACT This research is titled "Art in Sanggam Monggang Ritual at the Death Ceremony in Talang Mamak Tribe, West Rengat District, Indragiri Hulu Regency, Riau Province" in 2020. The problem in this study is how is the art in Sanggam Monggang Ritual? This research also aims to collect information and data on how art in Sanggam Monggang Ritual, then the data is obtained by means of observation, interview and documentation. This research uses Descriptive method with Qualitative data descriptive method, which is a method that describes the results of research in accordance with reality while qualitative data is data obtained from the results of research directly because the data obtained is data found directly in the field namely West Rengat District Indragiri Hulu district that will discuss the issue of Art in the Ritual sanggam Monggang at the Death Ceremony in Talang Mamak Tribe West Rengat District Indragiri Hulu. From the results of the above research, the author concluded in The Art in Sanggam Monggang Ritual there are several aspects that include: 1) The time of implementation of Sanggam Monggang Ritual depends on the readiness of the time, 2) The place of implementation of Sanggam Monggang Ritual is the chosen place, 3) It is necessary for people to be selected as supporters in the implementation of Sanggam Monggang Ritual, 4) Offerings and elements of art contained in the Monggang Sanggam Ritual is the literary art (mantra) and dance art.
