Abstract
The city will not live without the activities of its people, so it can be said that public space as an element of the city plays an important role in the development of a city. Therefore, the quality of public space must always be improved in order to accommodate the wishes of the city dwellers. One of the public spaces in Pekanbaru City is the Raja Ali Haji Art Center or Bandar Serai which is also known as Purna MTQ. The community has used this area for a long time to carry out various activities. In addition, this area is one of the icons of cultural tourism, which of course has the potential to be developed and can become a leading tourist attraction in the future if it is processed optimally. The purpose of this study was to identify the existing condition of public space in the Bandar Serai area in Pekanbaru City and to determine the factors that influence the quality of public space in the Bandar Serai area in Pekanbaru City. The method used is descriptive analysis as well as qualitative and quantitative by using factor analysis. Based on the results of the study, it shows that, for the existing condition of public spaces in the Bandar Serai area in Pekanbaru City, there are several activities there and of course also equipped with various kinds of facilities in it. Based on the results of confirmatory factor analysis, it is known that the factors that influence the quality of public space in the Bandar Serai area, obtained 6 main factors, namely: cleanliness and freedom of activity factors, comfort and sociability factors, accessibility and area support factors, activity supporting facilities factors, location distance factors with the city center and regional attractiveness factors.
