Abstract
This study aims to determine the role of parents in motivating elementary school student learning. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques and instruments are interviews, observation and documentation. Testing the validity of the data using source triangulation and technical triangulation. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The conclusion of this study is that there are five roles of parents in motivating student learning, namely providing encouragement, giving awards or prizes, creating a conducive or comfortable environment, providing support so that they don't give up easily, introducing new things that trigger students' curiosity. As well as the obstacles experienced by parents in carrying out their role to motivate student learning, namely the limited space so that parents cannot provide special study rooms for students and the economic limitations of each parent so that parents are not optimal in carrying out their role as a motivator.
