Abstract

Natural gas has an important role in the global energy structure, natural gas contributes 23.4% of global primary energy demand, with the increasing demand for natural gas, it is hoped that Indonesia can transform from a natural gas importing country to a natural gas exporting country. One way to overcome this problem can be done by increasing the development of unconventional hydrocarbons of natural gas types, namely Coal Bed Methane (CBM) in Indonesia. This research method will discuss the steps of economic analysis research in the CBM X field using PSC Cost Recovery and PSC Gross Split. The research steps were started from data collection, economic calculation, and sensitivity analysis to find out the comparison of the two contract schemes. The calculation results show that the Gross Split PSC contract system is better than the Cost Recovery PSC in terms of contractor income, because the contractor's income for the Gross Split PSC scheme is 6,563,998 US$M, while PSC Cost Recovery is 4,672,142 US$M. The next comparison is the value of economic indicators such as NPV, IRR and, POT. The NPV value in the Gross Split PSC system shows better results than the PSC Cost Recovery scheme. The PSC Gross Split NPV value shows a positive value of 1,318,774.12 US$M, higher than the PSC Cost Recovery NPV of 923,831.16 US$M. The POT value for the PSC Gross Split scheme is 6.42 years, while the POT for the PSC Cost Recovery scheme is 6.38 years. Comparison of the POT values of these two schemes has a length of time that is not too far away. The IRR for the Gross Split PSC scheme is 51.55%, while the IRR for the PSC Cost Recovery scheme is 36.08%. Based on the calculations, it was found that the Gross Split PSC in the CBM X field had better results for contractors compared to the Cost Recovery PSC contract system. The parameters that affect the changes in the economic indicators of NPV and IRR in the two contracts are the gas price and the amount of natural gas production.
