Abstract

Learning strategies are a factor to achieve the desired learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the index card match strategy on the mathematics learning outcomes of Pekanbaru junior high school students on rectangular material. The form of this research is Quasi Experiment (quasi-experiment). The design of this study is the Pretest Posttest Control Group Design. The research population was all class VII of 12 junior high schools in Pekanbaru. The sample was selected using purposive sampling. Class VII1 as an experimental class with 37 students and class VII2 as a control class with 35 students. Data collection instruments are test and observation techniques. Tests are used to see students' mathematics learning outcomes which will be analyzed by descriptive statistics and inferential analysis. Descriptive statistical analysis of aspects of knowledge, the average learning outcomes increased namely theexperimental class x Ì… = 68.72 and the control class x Ì… = 59.8. Inferential statistical analysis of post-test data on aspects of knowledge is obtained t_ (count) = 3.41 and t_ (table) = 1,665 so that t_ (count)> t_ (table) means that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, so it can be concluded that there is a strategy effect index card match against student mathematics learning outcomes12Pekanbaru Middle School.
