Abstract

Self-esteem is an evaluation made and maintained by individuals, which is obtained from the results of individual interactions with the environment, as well as the acceptance of awards, as well as the treatment of others towards individuals, especially social media users. All individuals consider themselves to have self-esteem. The purpose of this study was to describe the self-esteem of social media users in Bangkinang, with a sample of 100 people. The sampling technique used is non-probability sampling, especially purposive sampling. The research variable was measured using a self-esteem scale consisting of 17 items. The results showed that the level of self-esteem of social media users in Bangkinang was at a high level with 41 people (41%). Self-esteem that is seen by gender shows that there are no significant differences experienced by men and women. When viewed from gender, duration of time, status or type of work, widely used social media, and sources of connection, the picture of self-esteem in social media users in Bangkinang is in the high category.
