Abstract

The research entitled "The Phenomenon of Online Dating in the Covid-19 Pandemic: Phenomenology Study of Female Users on the Tinder Application" was motivated by the increase in Tinder users during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in users who swiped on March 29, 2020. This study aims to determine how phenomenology meaning of female Tinder users during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research was conducted in Pekanbaru due to an increase in female Tinder users, especially in Pekanbaru. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, where the subjects of this study were 10 Tinder users who were female students from Riau and in accordance with the needs of this study (purposive sampling technique). The theory used is the phenomenological theory of Alfred Schutz. The results showed that there were several meanings in playing Tinder by women during the COVID-19 pandemic, namely the existing meaning, a place to find beauty privileges, a place to carry out individual exploration, a meaning to be yourself, and a place to eliminate boredom from the COVID-19 pandemic
