Abstract

At this time the development of the age in the era of technology is increasingly advanced and sophisticated, even the public is quickly aware of the development of technological research in various parts of the world, which at this time the network provides space to transact online if it is not used properly or not according to needs, it will give birth online cyber crime. The high crime in cyberspace can increase the negative image in Indonesia, one of which is human trafficking through online media. Negative activities are on the rise in the mass media about online prostitution pimps who are intermediaries or owners of commercial sex workers (CSWs), which are activities that make a person their core business to be traded through electronic media. The purpose of this study is to look at factors causing the rise of online prostitution in the city of Pekanbaru. This research method uses a qualitative approach by conducting in-depth interviews. As well as researchers using the Marxist Feminism theory, it was found that the factors causing the tendency of perpetrators and victims to choose to be pimps and commercial sex workers (CSWs) online prostitution where the first factor was due to a weak economic level, and there were other factors namely the influence of peer environment, exploitation by pimps, hedonism lifestyle factors influence as well as education factors where someone who has not graduated from school is very easy to get involved in the world of prostitution.
