Abstract

This study aims to determine what communication patterns are used by the Pondok Belantara Adventure Riau Community. The theory used is the communication pattern from Rakhmat (2013). This study uses a qualitative approach. In this study the subject amounted to 4 people. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation and documentation. The results showed that the communication pattern of the Pondok Belantara Adventure Riau community had no boundaries between superiors and subordinates, which made the sense of kinship in the community very compact with one another. The cohesiveness that exists within the PBA community is formed in relation to the program of activities carried out. In the Pondok Belantara Adventure Riau Community, all members can communicate with other members, in other words free communication. The conclusions of this study are: the communication pattern of the Pondok Belantara Adventure Riau community is the Bintang Communication pattern, in which all members of the Pondok Belantara Adventure Riau community can communicate with other members. In the star pattern, all channels are not centered on one leader, and the Pondok Belantara Adventure Riau community applies this communication pattern. But still in the ethics of politeness, for example after the meeting activities are carried out members are allowed to provide input and opinions. This can be illustrated by the star pattern of the Grace theory.
