Abstract

This study aims to see the critical thinking skills of students with the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) Learning Model specifically for class VIII students. This study looked at the ability to think critically by solving problems by producing a learning product according to the material at each meeting. The instruments used were based on the written test, namely block exams, quiz tests and LKPD. This research was conducted on March 4 to June 19, 2020. The research sample was all members of class VIII B SMPN 12 Dumai, totaling 29 students. This research is a classroom action research (PTK). The data were analyzed with 6 indicators of critical thinking skills, namely focus, areason, inference, clarity, situation, and overview. The results of the data analysis obtained were the average critical thinking ability in the first cycle, namely 81% with the high category, while in the second cycle it was 95% with the high category, and an increase of 14%
