Abstract

No-smoking area is an area or public place that is prohibited from carrying out activities such as production, sale, advertisement, promotion and or use of cigarettes. The public places in question include: health services, teaching and learning places, children's playgrounds, places of worship, public transportation, workplaces, and places that have been determined. Community participation can be directed to use the right to get a clean and healthy environment to be protected from cigarette smoke from others, to participate in facilitating and assisting the authorized officials in supervising the implementation of a No-Smoking Zone. The role of the community is carried out through suggestions, opinions, thoughts, proposals, and considerations regarding the monitoring and implementation of non-smoking area policies, participation in providing guidance in counseling, and dissemination of information to the public about non-smoking areas, reminding or reprimanding smokers not to smoke in the area without smoking, notifying the owner, manager and person in charge of a non-smoking area in the event of a violation, reporting to the authorities in case of a violation, the regional government is responsible and obliged to disseminate information regarding community involvement in the realization of a non-smoking area. the purpose of this study was to determine community participation in the implementation of the Smoke Free Zone in Tandun District, Rokan Hulu District. The method used is qualitative with interview method. Community participation in KTR is chosen from the participation indicator in the form of thoughts, which is to take part in socializing KTR, obeying KTR regulations, contributing ideas to the suggestion box in KTR, and others. Whereas according to the participation indicator in the form of energy that is seen from reminding if there are other people who violate and participate in maintaining the KTR area in Tandun District and if viewed from the indicator of capital / material participation seen from following the socialization and propagating KTR area policies.
