Abstract

The background of this research is because the tradition in Tembilahan that has survived to this day is yellowfin, despite the lack of full appreciation from the government for pemadihin, in providing a place in the form of a special studio for the pemadihin. This study aims to convey the values of the Madihin Performance in the Marriage Tradition of the Banjar Tribe in Tembilahan District, Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau Province. The author conducted research using the theory of UU Hamidy, Elly M Setiadi, Hermansyah, Abdul Salam. This study uses a descriptive analysis method using qualitative data. The location of the research was carried out directly in Tembilahan, where the pemadihin lives. Data collection techniques using observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The results of this study indicate that the madihin contains religious values conveyed through its poetry and poetry which teaches humans to remember sins and not forget the creator. In the yellowfin also contains educational values found in the verses that teach about the treatment of children to parents, social values that gather the community and indirectly strengthen the relationship of friendship. The traditional value contained in the madihin is a tradition that is still attached and is still often carried out and witnessed by the community, especially the Banjar community.
