Abstract

The average water level of Lake Maninjau is 462.5 to 463.5 masl. PLTA Maninjau operates normally at a water level of 463.15 masl, so the existence and operation of PLTA Maninjau is almost always in a state of inoperability according to its capacity. This means losses for West Sumatra due to a lack of energy from renewable sources. Therefore, an analysis of the effect of lake water level on water turbine performance is needed. The purpose of this research is to obtain the influence of water level on turbine performance and to obtain the water level of the lake which has the best turbine performance. In the research that has been done, it can be seen that the lake water level affects the performance of the water turbine, where the greater the lake water level, the better the turbine performance will be. As well as the best performance of the water turbine is at the lake water level of 464 masl where the largest flow rate is 1.93m�s, the largest water discharge is 11.07 m ^ 3�s. The largest hydrolysis loss was 0.59 m. The largest nethead is 235.40 m. The largest turbine output power is 64025.20 kW and the greatest efficiency is 96.71%.
