Abstract

This research aims to describe the aesthetic value contained in bridal silat in the Cekak Siak silat studio, Riau Province. This research uses descriptive research using qualitative methods. The data collection techniques used were nonparticipant observation, interviews were conducted, namely structured interviews, while the documentation obtained was in the form of photos of various bridal silat movements, costumes, musical instruments and the location of the practice site. Subjects in this study were 2 people consisting of 1 silat teacher and 1 student of silat management at the Cekak Siak silat studio, Riau Province. This bridal martial arts is performed when both the bride and groom have officially become husband and wife. Gerak silat pengantin is based on the rules of silat and the rules of silat pengantin that already exist. The research was conducted using Djelantik's (1999) theory on several aesthetic elements, including: form, weight or content and sampling. The results of this study show that there is an aesthetic value in the variety of bridal silat movements, whose aesthetic meaning is the meaning or term contained in each bridal silat move that is displayed. As well as can be described about the existence in the martial arts of the bride located in the movement, dress and floor patterns. The weight or content lies in the meaning and message contained in each bait of martial arts. Appearance can be seen from the talents, skills and means in the bridal martial arts. Bridal silat performed by adult fighters with the terms and conditions of martial arts in the yard of the bride's residence, without using property. The costumes used were simple like a fighter, and were required to take off their footwear when they wanted to fight in front of the king one day. The bridal silat offering ends with the respectful greeting and the initial attitude of the bride and groom.
