Abstract
This study aims to determine the implementation of teaching arts and culture (basic dance movements) in class VII.3 SMPN 18 Pekanbaru. This study used descriptive qualitative method. There are 3 data collection techniques used in this study, namely: observation techniques, interviews, documentation. The sources of this study were 26 people, 1 teacher of cultural arts and 25 students of class VII.3 at SMPN 18 Pekanbaru T.A 2019/2020. Based on the research results, it can be described that class VII.3 at SMPN 18 Pekanbaru uses the 2013 curriculum. Learning uses the e-learning method (online learning). In online learning, this is a little different from usual, because at the time of the Covid pandemic, the lesson plans used were still the old lesson plans, but the government gave the responsibility to schools to formulate how learning methods in teaching used online (online). And also the government gives the responsibility to the school to regulate how the curriculum will be used according to the circumstances. The components in this teaching are curriculum, syllabus, learning media, materials, facilities and infrastructure, evaluation / assessment. The assessment criteria taken are attitude assessment, knowledge assessment, skills assessment. The material taught is the basic movements of the dance. In carrying out the learning process the teacher carries out several activities for students, namely 1. Opening activities, 2. Core activities, 3. Closing activities. The entire learning process is carried out through the Whatsapp Group. The theory used in this research is Suryo Subroto's theory.
