Abstract

Hydroponics is a system of agricultural cultivation without using soil but using water containing a solution of nutrients. The amount of these nutrients is only about 10% of the plant's needs, the rest plant's require a lot of water. With this principle, planting can be done using any other medium than soil. Provided, the plant's need for nutrients is met. Cultivating hydroponically there are also obstacles, one of which is a nutrient deficiency. Plants need sufficient nutrients to grow and develop properly. Farmers' lack of knowledge about the symptoms experienced by plants when they are deficient in certain nutrients, so it is often too late to know and results in the need for visits to plant experts. In order to get early treatment. Thus, an expert system was developed to help determine the type of nutrient deficiency experienced by hydroponic plants consisting of 13 nutrients. From the acquisition of knowledge by an expert, 40 symptoms were found and in 13 rules represented using a decision table. Deficiency tracing method uses forward chaining, while to handle the uncertainty that arises, a certainty factor method from the Mycin application is used. To facilitate users, the system is made web-based. Based on the results of the system implementation, the sensitivity value is 5.0%, the accuracy value is 95.0% and the results of the questionnaire 89.0% indicate that this expert system is able to determine the deficiency of hydroponic plant nutrient elements with certainty factor values , treatment solutions and nutrient descriptions.
