Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the self-concept of women addicted to the online game PUBG in Payakumbuh. This study uses phenomenological research methods. The population in this study were women addicts to online games in Payakumbuh. The researcher decided to use purposive sampling technique as a benchmark in selecting research subjects. The object of this research is the phenomenology of the self-concept construction of female PUBG game addicts in Payakumbuh. The location of the research was carried out in Payakumbuh, especially in the Tanjung Haro area during April-May 2021. The primary data source in this study was informants (women to be precise in Payakumbuh. The data obtained in this study were collected by means of participant observation and interviews as data collection methods. In the process of this research, to test the credibility of the data, the researcher uses the triangulation method to check the validity of the data. The results show that the self-concept found is a negative self-concept. A negative self-concept is indicated by the absence of the ability to develop themselves because individuals are unable to express these aspects. bad personality and not trying to change it.The negative self-concept found in women who are addicted to the PUBG mobile game, namely preferring to be alone, easily emotional, easy to run away from problems, excessive levels of narcissism, selfishness (prioritizing personal interests), low self-esteem concern for the surroundings, and low concern for personal health.
